For my birthday, my sister gave me a 23.5” paper mache Paper Mache Letter (along with a collection of other fun crafty things).
She thought, with a little paint, it would be a great addition to the white shelves in the family room. I couldn’t agree more!
Anthropologie sells their 25” oversized zinc letters for $98.
Pottery Barn Metal Letters sells a smaller 13″ version for around $25.
While I love what Anthropologie is selling, I could never get myself to spend the $98. However, with a $10 ($6 if you use a 40% off coupon) paper mache letter from the craft store and a $7 can of spray paint, I can have the next best thing. And if you are anything like my family, it’s those fun DIY projects that are so much more enjoyable!
There wasn’t much to this project. Just a few coats of spray paint. Pinterest had a lot of tutorials on how to diy faux zinc letters, but using the Rust-Oleum hammered silver was my favorite. I have had success using the Rust-Oleum Universal brand spray paint on projects and decided to stick with what works well. It is a few dollars more than other spray paints, but well worth it.
I love walking into the family room and looking at my letter C!
